Advanced Paremeters

Active

You can define the active item’s highlight behavior:

  • Disabled: You can disable the active highlight feature.
  • Item: You can mark the current page.
  • Branch: You can mark the current page and it’s parents.

Opened

The active page can be opened on pageload by the following options:

  • Disabled: none of the menu items will be opened.
  • All: all of the menu items will be opened.
  • Active Item: the active item will be opened with the first subitems under it.
Example 1: Homepage is the active item
    menu_1
Example 2: Sample page is the active item (you can’t see it, because the Homepage is defaultly closed).
    menu_2
Open down the Homepage to see it’s subitems (the Sample page is already opened).
    menu_3
  • Active Branch: The parent items of the active item and it’s first subitem level will be opened.
Example 1: Homepage is the active item.
    menu_1
Example 2: Sample page is the active item.
    menu_3
Example 3: Products is the active item.
    menu_4
  • State saving with cookies: the browser’s cookies are saving down, which menu item is opened, and on the next opened pages those stay opened.

The previous Active, and this Opened parameters aren’t connected in their functionality, so if you are wondering, if you can make your menu opened a way, just go through these four options, and you will see. The word “active” is referring to the current page, and if it is in the menu, that will be the active item.

Always opened

If you choose a level, that level will be opened, and the controls will be disabled on it, so you won’t be able to close it.

With the menu slice option you can make your menu to only show a part from the branch of the active menuitem.

Example 1
settings

Active menuitem: none of them
This is the full menu with all menuitems. If you would turn off the Improved start level handling, then you wouldn’t see any menuitem at this point.

Active menuitem: any from the first branch (blog, about us, contact us, map)
firstpart

Active menuitem: any from the second branch (plugins, joomla, menu, wordpress)
secondpart

Example 2
settings2

Active menuitem: none of them
It’s not the full menu, only the first two levels. If you would turn off the Improved start level handling, then you wouldn’t see any menu items at this point.
fullmenu2

Active menuitem: any from the first branch of the full menu (blog, about us, contact us, map)
firstpart2

Active menuitem: any from the second branch of the full menu (plugins, joomla, menu, wordpress)
secondpart
